Helsinki Photography Biennial 27.3.–14.5.2014

Helsinki Photography Biennial Thanks Its Partners

Helsinki Photography Biennial, opening on 27 March 2014 in Helsinki, Finland would not have been possible to realize without the help of a wide range of partners. HPB14 is produced by Union of Artist Photographers / Photographic Gallery Hippolyte in collaboration with The Finnish Museum of Photography. Mustarinda Association has participated in developing the theme of the biennial and built a section presenting critical views on images of nature.

This year we are happy to cooperate with a great amount of partners.  Without their support the organizing of the biennial would not have been possible. HPB14 is grateful for the generous support of Alfred Kordelin Foundation, Frame Visual Art Finland, Ministry of Education and Culture, The Finnish Cultural Foundation, and The Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland for their support.

The support of the Embassy of Denmark, and the Embassy of Sweden has enabled two Nordic artists to participate in the biennial. The help of SAHA Association has enabled the participation of several artists from Turkey and the curator of the biennial, Basak Senova. The British Council has also generously supported two participating artists.

The support we have received from the venues has been vital. The City of Helsinki has given us the use of L3 Warehouse and VR offered us the Post Hall at the Central Railway Station.  We are happy to have received help also from the staff of University of Helsinki Main Library and Galleria U, Hungarian Cultural and Scientific Centre in Helsinki –Balassi Institute, both of them also included in our venues.

We would also like to thank Restaurant Hima & Sali, where some of the works included in the biennial are exhibited. On 29 March the restaurant also hosts the seminar of the biennial, which we are organizing in collaboration with The Green Cultural Association Visio.

The most important part of HPB14 are the art works produced with high quality. We extend a warm thank you to Artproof for their help with production of several of the artworks, our transportation partner DB Schenker and Sokos Hotel Albert for taking care of the accommodation needs of our guests. We would also like to thank Samsung Electronics Nordic AB. We are also grateful to online shop for helping us with the opening festivities. We would also like to extend a warm thank you to HOK-Elanto, Image magazine, Radio Helsinki and our other media partners.
